Mogadishu is a port city on the Indian Ocean, and it was beautiful then. Walking along, I craned my neck to look at the stunning white buildings surrounded by palm trees and brightly colored flowers…The women walking past me wore gorgeous scarves in yellow, red and blue prints. The long scarves covered their faces and they’d hold them under their chins as the sea breeze lifted the ends.
